Rubbish fine

I've got a fine for putting my rubbish out on the wrong day. Is this real?

Yep, its real. Amsterdam has a special brand of civil servants known by non-natives as the garbage police. Their job is drive around in a little electric truck looking for garbage which has been put out on the wrong day or at the wrong time. They will rip open the bag and look for something which a name and address on it. Then they will decide that person is the owner of the garbage and give them a fine. I beat a garbage police fine once, but they only withdrew the case days before we were due in court. Unless you've got the stamina to see it through, pay up. And if you are guilty, its not too much to ask that you put your rubbish out at the proper time and place....is it?
